
It was Karyn’s passion for health and education that led her along her unique career pathway to become a dietitian.
Karyn completed a Bachelor of Exercise & Health Science, followed by a post graduate degree in Teaching at the University of Western Australia in 2003.
Pursuing her interest in nutrition, she then went on to complete her nutrition and dietetic qualifications at Curtin University in 2007.
To improve her knowledge and skill in the area of diabetes Karyn completed a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes at Curtin University in 2015, qualifying as a Credentialled Diabetes Educator. Karyn undertook further training, completing the FlexIT course by Baker IDI to support her growing interest in diabetes. More recently, Karyn has completed a course with Monash University in the use of the low FODMAP diet for clients with IBS
Since qualifying as a Dietitian, Karyn has worked in various clinical settings and has gained experience in ICU, neurology, neurosurgery, bariatrics and diabetes.
At Black Swan Health, she focuses on preventing and managing chronic conditions through tailored education. Karyn’s academic background contributes to her ability to address lifestyle changes in her clients and utilise a team environment to help the clients achieve their healthy lifestyle goals.
Karyn’s health tip: Slow down and be more mindful of what you are eating. This will help you to get more enjoyment from your food and even address unhealthy eating patterns.
