Training in Diabetes Management

Our new competency based training program for diabetes management is now available.

With Black Swan Health diabetes training, your NDIS or Aged Care team will be equipped with a strong foundation of knowledge to understand and manage diabetes in client and participant populations. Lead by highly skilled clinicians, this hands-on, competency based course includes key topics such as:
  • How to identify the warning signs
  • Client management skills and techniques and
  • Diabetes essentials
Training Outcomes
  • Explain what Type 2 Diabetes is, the risk factors for developing this chronic condition, how it is diagnosed and the management strategies that will minimise risks of short and long-term complications.
  • Understand the role of the carer of clients with diabetes.
  • Safely administer oral and injectable medications.
  • Test a client’s capillary blood glucose levels, understand what the normal glucose range is and be confident to report the findings to the senior staff member.
  • Identify the signs and symptoms of low and high blood glucose levels.
  • Conduct regular foot care checks to identify early signs and manage symptoms of peripheral neuropathy.

All attendees who successfully complete written assessments and practical competencies will be given a Certificate of Competency. We offer flexible training at Black Swan Health’s premises or external venues.
